Brief Introduction

Location
Located in the southwest of Guangdong province and the north of Leizhou Peninsula, Lianjiang is faced with Beibu Gulf in the southwest, with 48 kilometers to the north of Zhanjiang. As a transportation juncture of Guangdong, Guangxi and Hainan, it is a must-passed place if you set sail in Zhangjiang Port from Southwest China. Sharing border with southwestern Guangzi, Lianjiang is the bridge and window for Guangdong's entry into the Economic Zone of China's Beibu Gulf Rim, and being the important region for the cooperation among Economic Zone of China's Beibu Gulf Rim, the Pan Pearl River Delta and other regions. 

Climate

It is southern Asia's monsoon climate. The average temperature is 22.9℃, with plenty of sunshine and rain. There are dry seasons and rainy seasons obviously as well as a long summer and a short winter. When the weather is hot, it always rains a lot.

Area

Lianjiang is a vast city of 2840 km2 and the northeast is higher than the southwest, mainly with hillock. It is suitable to grow fruit trees and develop township industry.

Administration Area

There are 18 towns, 3 street communities and one provincial economic development zone.

Human Resources

The population of Lianjing is 1.63 million at the end of 2009. We have enough human resources with 1.28 million agriculture population, 700,000 rural laborers and 40,000 transferable laborers. Among these people, there are 244 advanced talents and 6121 senior talents. Besides that, there are 577 schools, colleges and universities in Lianjiang, with 312,000 students. The colleges and universities, Zhangjiang Modern Science and Technology University (Lianjiang), for example, provide us lots of excellent human resources.

Natural Resources

  • There are more than 20 kinds of commercial minerals in Lianjiang. The reserves of gold mine, silver mine,aluminium & zinc mine and china clay is on the top among Guangdong Province, with prospective reserves of about 800 million tons limestone and 200 million tons granite, as well as 300 million tons kaolin. It is crowned as the Kingdom of Granite.
  • With a coastline of 108 kilometers and 1.93 hectares beach area, Lianjiang is rich in marine fishery resources. There are more than 170 kinds of fish and 10 kinds of shrimps, as well as lots of crabs, shellfishes and algae. Some of them are of high commercial values, such as grouper, snapper, buller fish, requin, green pilchard, clupeoid and sierra etc.
  • There are 104951.6 hectares forestry land and 96067.4 hectares forestland, with the afforestation rate of 91.5% and the forest coverage at 39.5%. The afforested area is 1000 hectares, and the stumpage of 5.724 million cubic meters.
  • Rich in agricultural resource, total resources of cultivated land is 1.221 million mu, among which there are 0.79 million mu of paddy fields. There are many well-known products with high quality here, such as Lianjiang Red Oranges, red carambolas, litchis, longans, granatum, Minghuang Tea, Laofumao Tea, Meizhan Tea and Guanghai chickens. In 1995, lianjiang was named as The Hometown of Chinese Orange by Ministry of Agriculture of PRC.
  • There are many beautiful cultural and natural landscapes in Lianjiang, including the well-known provincial mangrove swamps reserve, national AAA scenic spot of Hedi Reservoir, the famous carambola orchard and the wild litchi orchard.
